MANAGEMENT OF ICCA PROJECT IN TANZANIA
1. Tanzania Natural Resource Forum (TNRF)
TNRF is based in Arusha. It was established in 2006 as an NGO, that brings together members to change policy and practice in the natural resource sector for the better through (a) sharing knowledge base of practice (b) strengthening citizens voice for improved natural resource government. TNRF has a membership of 6000 people and organizations. Its current strategic direction focuses on promoting community Based Natural Resource Management (CBN RM); ensuring sound, fair and equitable land-based investment and supporting local level adaptation to climate change.
If selected, TNRF will focus on the following strategic actions:-
(i) Identify and strengthen existing ICCA that TNRF is working with in Ngorongoro, Kiteto, Loliondo and Babati
(ii) Developing a database of existing and potential ICCAs in the country
(iii) Support self-strengthening process using UNDP methodology
(iv) Facilitate national level consultation meetings to qualify and agree on the ICCA situation in the country
(v) Support indigenous communities and coalitions/networks in the ICCAs to manage and secure tenure security
(vi) Conduct community to national level ICCA dialogue and communication through live Radio and TV discussions and exchange visits.
