Context:

Chamwino is one of the driest district in the country. Annual rainfall averages 570mm. Rains fall between December and April. Drought is experienced between May and November. This project intends to support farmers at Huzi ward to do agricultural production, even during dry periods through drip irrigation. The project also intends to promote off-farm activities specifica
lly beekeeping activities to supplement income from on-farm activities. It is expected that
impact.

About the Proponent:

Chamwino District Council is one of new LGAs in Dodoma region. It has a total area of 8,056km2 and a population of 330,524 people. Rainfall is unreliable and soils are poor. Most of the district land is bare because of excessive cutting of wood for energy and extensive free ranging pastoralism.

Project?s Primary Objective:

To promote climate change resilience through farmers? education and a demo drip irrigation scheme.
