Conservation of ?Ketak? to support environmentally friendly home industry
Project goal:
The improvement of local community income and welfare through the development of environmentally friendly home industry and the conservation of ?ketak?.
Project objective :
1.Conservation effort of ?ketak? through its planting and preserving as raw material of local community home industry;
2.Awareness effort of the community to conserve their environment and natural resources (biodiversity) along with the development of their tradition and culture value.

Activities to be carried out under the project :
1. Preparation.
a) Project introduction and socialization to community;
b) Inventarize the potential of ?ketak?
c) Inventarize its ecosystem
d) Participation mapping;
e) Identification of the species;
f) Inventarize the utilization of ?ketak?;
g) Economic feasibility study of ?ketak?.

2. Local training and education in the field.
a) ?Ketak? culture and preserve;
b) Management improvement;
c) Market and marketing training.

3. Outreach Approach.
a) Dissemination of succeed results of the project;
b) Training to other CBO - based on succeed results of the project

4. Technical Assistance.
a) Demoplot establishment (1 ha);
b) Conservation effort in community land;
c) Providing protection (awig-awig);
d) Workshops.

5. Evaluation and Reporting.

Project Participants and/or beneficiaries :
1. Yayasan Lembaga Kemanusiaan Masyarakat Pedesaan (YLKMP).
2. Bentek village, Gangga sub-district, West Lombok.

Anticipated result of project :
1.Improved of the land erosion protection in the forest buffer zone (as the border of the village);
2.Biodiversity conservation in the forest buffer zone through the decreasing of the pressure to its natural resources (?ketak?); this will happen after the successful ?ketak? cultivation;
3.Skill improvement on cultivation management in providing raw material in sustainable way for local home industry;
4.Small scale business management improvement for local community to cut the marketing chain;
5.Income and welfare improvement of the local community.
