The project was completed. The program resulted: on dialog or discussion through community meetings, groups meeting, farmer group, mosque groups, and water groups and with leaders/traditional leaders. About 1600 Bentek villagers joined the planning of the program. It also provided assessment (participatory mapping); identification and all for the demoplots.
Lesson-learned taken from the project: YLKMP had succeeded on facilitating the groups (community groups and all), and at the same time attracted the local Agriculture Office to work together with the conservation program.
The methods used had successfully preserved the ketak plants which have high ecology and economy values. So far, YLKMP targeted 60 people to join the program, but this number had been expanded into 335 actively involved in the project and 1600 villagers aware of the preservation programs. The community also initiated other preservation plants such as local bamboo and uar (rattan). This socialization also leads to community full commitment towards draft of local legal drafting. Further the community needs to understand other important problems such as understanding market opportunity. YLKMP had done case study to Tenganan Karangasam village, Bali, to sustain the project. The ketak local material production has always been sold-out in Tenganan, especially because there are very few people planting this kind of crops.
