Alternative community based livelihoods - Layers (chickens that lay eggs) and \Awareness on the protection of the Lake Kutubu WMA
Funding has been awarded to the management committee of the protected area to look into and provide alternative sources of proteing that will lift pressure off the local endemic population of fish in the lake. This project will also look into conducting a local fish survey to ascertaint eh status of threat before lareg awareness and practical measures will be introduced to locals to reduce the increasing threat. recipients of the livelihood opportunity will be widows, the elderly and PLWD to undertake training, and production of layer chicken for sale to locals and to be encouraged as an available protein source aside from endemic fish.
