During tranch 1 implementation, as usual, there was the process of acquiring all equipment neccessary for project execution. This also included meetings being held with relevant community elders to offer information on project to be implemented and to enable support from expected beneficiaries. Since the project would be covering the whole island attol of Nissan, comprising 6 communities, it was important to carry out this awareness. Additional activities implemented was to discuss the order in which individual activities would be undertaken given the covid 19 situation and restriction in movement.
Discussions were held in respect to areas set aside for conservation and protection, livelihood projects, construction of a resource centre to be partly funded under the project but needing community contributions both financially and voluntary manpower.

During tranch 2 implementation;
1. Awareness and capacity building workshops were held and were fully representative of gender, youth and government representatives and hosted in Tanahera, Tapongal and Kulis. Central location for all activities is at Kulis.
2. After awareness, community is now mobilised to develop a Management Plan that will ensure protection of the Iarragai Lagoon involving the three communities who live within vicinity fo the lagoon.
3. Three endangered species have been identified withint he lagood habitat: wild black duck call "Koenalu"in local dialect, A fish called "Dawa", A green shell mudcrab and the high grade sea cucumber species "Holothuria scabra or sand fish.
