The project was successful in accomplishing a number activities that helped to reduce land degradation. Organic farming, broom grass and turmeric cultivation, plantation in open land and initiation of organic farming by engaging school students.

After the training on organic farming, manure and pesticide making, 112 farmers initiated organic vegetable farming in 12 ha land where they used to cultivate maize. Of the 112 farmers, 86 farmers applied tunnel based organic vegetable farming. In the first season, the income from sale of the vegetable ranged from USD100 to 300.
In the slopping land, project encouraged locals to cultivate broom grass by making contour, which helped in reducing the soil loss during monsoon. Likewise, in Bari land (dry non irrigated land) they also planted turmeric after they received training on turmeric farming. A total of 300ha land had been brought under these cultivation benefitting 112 families. In first season, they were able to earn USD100-150 by selling broom and turmeric.

The project also encouraged locals for plantation activities. The project supported Pankhawoti and Singhadevi community forest groups for the plantation of fodder plants in the forest area and regulate grazing management.

The project also worked with local school to initiate organic farming. With the project support and proactive initiation of Mr. Pralad Bhattarai, head-teacher, Adarsh High School, two demo plots of organic farm in 0.5 ha were established by engaging students from grade 8 to 10. This had not only raise awareness on organic farming, but they also learned the techniques of organic farming. Mr Bhattarai have also established kitchen garden in his home. With his proactive advocacy, he was able to convince Education section of Barahaksetra Municipality and incorporate tunnel based organic farming in school curricula. Many of the nearby schools had also visited to observe this initiatives.
