Main problems:
1). The conflict between increasing population of stray dog and wild animals in this region;
2). The uncontrolled waste polluted wetland in this area;
3). Lacking of detailed data regarding the distribution of population and key species and biodiversity baseline information in this region to develop effective conservation measures ;
4). The traditional culture of SNS and related traditional knowledge of ecological conservation have been marginalized for a long while
5). The local pastoralists are lacking of scientific knowledge to deal with the pollution problem.
Solutions/activities:
1) Investigate the variety and distribution of key species in the SNS of Banmarentuo and use scientific data to support the conservation of SNS and the restoration of wetlands.

3) Establish SNS management mechanism by involving local government, monastery, community and NGO to protect cultural and biological diversity in Banmarentuo area and conduct ecological and cultural tour to improve local livelihood.
Anticipated results
1) At least 10 members and staff are professional trained to conduct species surveys. At least 20 people participated in 100 species data collection activities in each season.
2) Produce one survey report regarding the status of wild wildlife species in the SNS, including the Wildlife Conservation Plan.
3) at least 500 pastoralists from 4 neighborhood villages raise their awareness of environmental protection; waste leaned up in the SNS;
4) Print 500 copies of the Natural Harmony Biodiversity Handbook and make one 10-minute short film;
5) SNS management mechanism implemented and 1008ha. of SNS protected;
6) Conduct at least two ecotourism trips to increase at least 1,000 RMB per household per year.
