The SDGs and Youth in Saint Lucia – Experiential Learning for contending with CC impacts.
This project focuses on taking young people through an experiential learning process to prepare them to design, implement and/or engage in climate change mitigation and adaption projects. The goal of the project is to: ?to transform participating students and youth leaders from passive to active leaders in order for them to understand, develop and implement strategies which addresses environmental challenges in selected communities?. The objectives are: ?(i) To train and educate teachers & LLS staff to facilitate, manage and mentor students working to implement sustainable development initiatives in their respective schools and communities; (ii) To develop a cadre of student leaders to become active learners through scientific research and sustainable interventions; (iii) To design and implement a formative and summative evaluation process from which lessons learnt can be identified and shared with youth and decision makers; and (iv) To present findings and recommendations to key stakeholders on school audits and sustainable methods of addressing the impact of sargassum in affected communities?. We expect this project will attract more young people to work on sustainable development challenges in Saint Lucia.
