In the framework of the project, the following activities were carried out in the reporting period:
1. Project funds were registered in the Department for Humanitarian Affairs of the Office of the President of the Republic of Belarus.
2. An introductory seminar-meeting was held with representatives of enterprises - owners of PCB - containing waste and equipment and other interested in the technical and organizational aspects of the collection, packaging, transportation and disposal of PCB - containing waste.
3. The selection process was made and contracts with the contractor were concluded:
- on the collection and packaging of PCB-containing wastes from enterprises-owners of PCB-containing wastes and equipment;
- on the transportation and destruction of PCB-containing waste outside the Republic of Belarus (the contractor has permits for the transboundary movement of hazardous waste in accordance with national legislation and the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants and the Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and on destroying them).
3. The collection and packaging of PCB-containing waste were carried out in the following organizations - owners of PCB-containing waste: Borisovsky Bread Products Plant, Minskoblkhleboprodukt OJSC, Borisov Meat Processing Plant OJSC No. 1, Mozyr Electric Networks branch of Gomelenergo RUE, branch Bobruisk Electric Networks "RUE" Mogilevenergo ".
4. The PCB-containing waste in the amount of 13,880 kg was exported and neutralized in an environmentally safe way at a specialized enterprise for the disposal of hazardous waste outside the Republic of Belarus (Saint-Vulba, France)
5. All planned activities of the project have been successfully implemented thanks to the active support in the implementation of the project from all interested parties, as well as through the creation of an effective partnership mechanism and joint activities as part of the Borisovsky Bread Products Plant, Minskoblkhleboprodukt OJSC, Borisov Meat Processing Plant OJSC No. 1, Mozyr Electric Networks branch of Gomelenergo RUE, branch Bobruisk Electric Networks "RUE" Mogilevenergo " (owners of the PCB-containing waste and equipment) and Beltekhkonsalt Production and Consulting Unitary Enterprise (contractor for the management of PCB-containing waste and equipment within the framework of the project).
6. A video was made to inform other owners of PCB-containing waste (not involved in the project) about the features of the packaging and loading of PCB-containing waste (types of packaging, weighing, labeling and loading in specialized vehicles). 7. The seminar "Summing up the project with representatives of owners of PCBs - containing waste and equipment and other interested parties, as well as issues of handling POP-containing waste" was held
8. An information campaign was conducted in the media, as a result of which the level of public awareness on the disposal of POP-containing wastes was increased.
