Agricultural Eco-friendly mulching
The project main aim is to contributeto protecting farmers and their land properties from hazardous effects of using plastic in agriculture in Jiffltik village in Jordan Valley
Main activities:
-Form a steering committee for the project from the concerned authorities.
2-Develop criteria to select 20 farmers in the area of Jifftlik village in Jordan valley.
3- Conduct introductory workshop to present project details, its goal and activities.
4-Conduct 36 training hours for 20 farmers on the following topics: Principles of agro ecology integrated pest management and organic fertilizer (practical and theoretical), techniques of using organic alternatives to plastics used in agriculture and its consequences on health and soil.
5- Replacement of 56 dunmus which use non-biodegradable plastics by biodegradable organic mulch.
6- Clean 200 dunums from plastic waste.
7- Conduct baseline and end line study for the target group and the local community and conduct research and field survey for the results of the study.
8- Conduct farmer?s to farmer?s site visits
9- Conduct a final workshop with the related stakeholders? including the Environmental Quality Authority, Ministry of Agriculture and other related institutions and farmers.
10- Print and distribute 626 copies of the brochure on the dangerous of using plastic in agriculture and environmental alternatives.

Project Characteristics and Results
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Building the capacity of the target group through environmental awareness through training of 20 farmers (36 training hours) with the following training topics: 1.1 Principles of agro ecology integrated pest management and organic fertilizer (practical and theoretical) (20 training hours). 20 farmers were participated in this training. Training of 20 farmers on the techniques of using organic alternatives to plastics used in agriculture, the damage caused by the use of plastic in agriculture and its consequences on health and soil. 20 farmers were participated in this training
Policy Impact
The Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Quality Authority were involved from the project begging. They were members in the project committee who approved the project workplan, Terms of References ?TOR?, monitoring and evaluation reports. In addition to that the committee provided guidance when necessary. The grantee shared the project results with the Ministry of agriculture who will take it into consideration in their future strategies and replicate the idea in other places.
