Minimizing chemicals? hazardous effect on environment and livelihoods
The project is aimed at preventing environmental pollution by waste and chemicals, reducing production and consumption of products containing harmful substances, in particular, mercury and polychlorinated biphenyls. The main project tasks include involvement of local authorities and local communities in the activities on prevention and redaction of environmental pollution by waste and chemicals; minimization of the usage and production of goods with hazardous substances; introduction of effective utilization and disposal system of goods containing harmful substances. One of the important components of the projects is to ensure a high level of public awareness on chemicals? hazardous effect on environment and livelihoods. Methodological recommendations are developed to support local authorities and communities to reduce pollution by waste and chemicals and introduce effective system of utilization and disposal of goods containing harmful substances.

Project Characteristics and Results
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
27 containers for garbage sorting in schools of Irpin and the surrounding area of the city were purchased and installed, which allowed to recycle waste and minimize its harmful effects on the environment.
Notable Community Participation
