The project achieved its main goal to raise public awareness and promote the formation of personal environmental responsibility of citizens, in particular, students and local authorities in the prevention of pollution of the environment by waste and chemicals. First of all, it was done by installing 27 containers for garbage sorting in schools of Irpin and the surrounding area of the city, which gave opportunity to raise children's awareness about recycling and saving the environment. Moreover, all-Ukrainian contest of video works "No waste life" for children from 12 to 21 years old was conducted (more than 70 applications were received). Find more details at the link - https://wasteno.org.ua/ A number of events were organized, including two national consultations that were held on September 6 in Chernihiv and on October 30 in Poltava concerning the Minamata Convention, which involved more than 85 people - representatives of the local authorities and the public. Also, the project participated in the National Forum "Waste Management in Ukraine: Legislation, Economics, Technology", held on November 22-23, 2019 in Kyiv, with participation of 20 people - representatives of communities, civil society organizations, members of the GEF SGP Network. A round table discussion was held at Ukrinform on March 29, 2019 on issues related to waste management in Ukraine, Kyiv region, in particular, as a result of which a working group of experts consisting of ecologists and civic activists was set up to develop and implement "National Plan for Waste Disposal and Recycling". The project was working on knowledge management, in particular, the program of the training course on minimizing the harmful effects on the environment of waste and chemicals for specialists of enterprises engaged in waste and production management, as well as representatives of local authorities, was prepared. In addition, a content module for minimizing the harmful effects on the environment of waste and chemicals was prepared and tested, which was included in the advanced training courses of the State Ecological Academy of Postgraduate Education and Management. Useful materials for raising awareness were produced: a package of training materials on the reduction of food waste "Make good: consume responsibly" (1 brochure and 2 presentations) and a book for children and their parents "Chepuryk-Defender of the Environment" (1000 copies). In addition, in order to raise awareness of minimizing the harmful effects on the environment, waste and chemicals, 7 informational posters (3,500 copies) were developed, printed and distributed.
