Promoting innovative community-based tools and approaches for safe management of harmful chemicals and waste
The main objective of the project is lands restoration by introducing complex of measures to clean the soil and avoid uncontrolled chemicals storage in several villages in Zaporizhya region. The project created mapping, established utilization of chemicals and ensured restoration of affected lands in selected communities. Wide capacity development and public awareness campaign is held including such events as public hearings, seminars and discussions. Public-private partnerships and network are established.

Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
As part of the project in the village of Novouspenivka, Veselivskyi district, Zaporizhya region, an ownerless landfill of unsuitable chemical plant protection products was discovered and inspected, the entrance to the landfill was cleared and one ton of unsuitable chemical plant protection products was collected and confiscated by the Emergency Rescue Team of Special Purpose of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
Gender Focus
Gender equality is a part of project policy and all parties participate in project activities on equal base and benefit from project results. A total of 2,375 women were involved in the Project.
