Energy access co-benefits for disabled people in the Center for social rehabilitation
The project is aimed at demonstrating best practices for the use of alternative energy (solar energy) for the needs of a social object of local importance, namely the installation of photovoltaic modules in the laundry room of the KM "Radomyshl psychoneurological residential institution", as well as best practices for energy efficient street lighting; and raising awareness of the community on energy efficiency and climate change and promoting energy efficiency initiatives in local communities. The main goal of the project is sustainable development of the Radomyshl community in Zhytomyr region reducing greenhouse gas emissions to the environment.

Project Characteristics and Results
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
A number of informational and educational public events were conducted: Days of energy efficiency in the city of Novograd-Volynskyi of Zhytomyr region, community events for disabled persons in Radomyshl, Radomyshl district, environmental actions for children of rural schools. Dissemination of printed informational and educational materials and results of the project implementation via social media Facebook, Twitter, CSOs network www.gefua.net and the "Green Zhytomyr Region" CSO Network, All-Ukrainian monthly publication "Development and Environment", local newspapers of the Zhytomyr region was made.
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
Due to less electricity consumption, a significant reduction in electricity demand and a reduction in the energy infrastructure load, greenhouse gas emission reductions are achieved, while "Radomyshl psychoneurological residential institution", now is able to save money on payment of electricity bills and redirect them to other socially important needs.
