Development of Ecotourism is based on a partnership with the Bokonusan Village Community and Uiboa Village in Semau Island, Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara
GOAL : Assist Bokonusan and Uiboa Village communities to preserve the forests and beaches and at the same time help them maximize the potential of forest and beach tourism in both villages as a sustainable source of income.
Objective 1 : Make local people understand the importance of the meaning of the environment and local resources for them
Activity :
1. Program socialization to 30 sub-district officials (26 men, 4 women), 121 village officials and 30 indigenous parents.
2. Socialization to the community in 8 hamlets in both villages (each village is invited by 70 people)
3. Environmental Critical Education in 10 selected points (1 point 30 people, 15 male and 15 female)
4. Screening of films on eco-tourism best practices in 4 selected points (expected to be at least 40-50 people present at each screening session)
5. A comparative study visit for 7 key figures in both villages (2 village officials, 2 community leaders, 2 female figures and 1 YAO staff)
6. Workshop on Identification of medicinal plants in the forest of tourist destinations (10 participants consisted of 5 men and 5 women)
7. Workshop The identification of birds and wildlife in the forest of tourist destinations (15 participants)
8. Environmental assessment and mitigation strategies
9. Socialization of Environmental Assessment Results (it is expected that 60 participants per village (30 men, 30 women) should pay attention to the representatives of village officials, BPD, old adat, youth, women and representatives of sub-district officials.
10. Review of economic valuation of environmental resource potential and business analysis of ecotourism business in Bokonusan and Uiboa villages
11. Training on making biomass stoves (representatives of 20 families)
12. Training of Organic Agriculture for the community (representatives of 4 farmer groups, each farmer group has an average of 6-8 people)
Water purification training for residents. (representatives from 16 households, 4 families per hamlet)
