Strengthening and capacity building of traditional herbal and medicinal plants conservationist group.
Project goal:
To facilitate the development of traditional medicine industry through strengthening and capacity building in product processing and marketing.

Project objective :
1. To increase community participation in planting medicine plants through optimizing existing available yards (widen the scope of existing traditional plant planters);
2. To increase product processing skill from raw material selection to semi-finished or finished products;
3. To provide marketing network availability;
4. To increase the value of products harvested through the improvement of the quality;
5. To increase the welfare of the community in the project area.


Activities to be carried out under the project :

1. Preparation.
a) Networking with local government;
b) CBO strengthening;
c) Land preparation;
d) Raw material procurement.

2. Local training and education in the field.
a) Cultivation technology;
b) Product processing and management;
c) Small scale industry management;
d) Marketing management.

3. Outreach Approach.
a) Network establishment - license from local government authority and marketing network (with the consumer of traditional medicine raw materials, e.g. herbal industry, medicine factory, etc.);
b) Training for new CBO members (along with existing members).

4. Technical Assistance.
a) Marketing network establishment;
b) Product processing and packaging.

5. Evaluation and Reporting.



Project Participants and/or beneficiaries :
1. Lembaga Pengembangan Teknologi Pedesaan (LPTP).
2. Local community in Musuk, Ampel and Cepogo sub-district, Boyolali district,
Central Java.

Anticipated result of project :
1. Increasing number of participants in this project (at the farmers level);
2. Sufficient raw material supply (at least 22 kinds of traditional medicine plant);
3. Establishing of household/small scale traditional medicine industry;
4. Increasing product quality;
5. Increasing product value;
6. Improving the income of participating community.
