Raising Awareness in optimizing energy demand and training key stakeholders with demonstration sites.
Raising Awareness in optimizing energy demand and training key stakeholders with demonstration sites.
As an Oil and Gas rich country, fossil fuels are rather inexpensive in Iran and are widely used in all sectors of the society
(eg. 40% of the energy used in buildings). This project builds on outcomes of two previous SGP projects whereby
innovative Automated Intelligent Control Systems were built to increase energy efficiency in the engine room of buildings
(at least 500 installed to date), and then training was provided to key stakeholders (including 600 servicemen and
technicians) in energy saving.
Based on new legal arrangements, Energy Service Provider companies can now sign Energy Service Contracts based
on a Business Model (ESCO scheme), which guarantees a certain level of energy efficiency and compensation of the
costs through energy saving plans. This project which is implemented by the ESCO Group, aims to continue with
awareness raising workshops with key stakeholders (eg. decision-makers, consumers, etc.) and to continue with
trainings on optimizing energy usage in buildings, as well as promote using an online and intelligent monitoring system.
Some of the other outputs of the project will be focused on knowledge products such as electronic newsletters, videoclips,
etc. to raise awareness of the general public and decision-makers in saving energy.
