Restoration of degraded irrigated lands by reusing drainaged, discharged waters in the semi-desert zone of the Balkhash district, Almaty region
The goal of the project is to demonstrate the possibilities of developing waste irrigated lands of the Akdalinsky massif through the introduction of water-saving rice irrigation technology with the reuse of drainage-waste water.
The objectives of the project are: to introduce the technology of reuse of drainage and waste water for irrigating rice on the basis of the rural consumer cooperative Dinara and in the agricultural association Otes-Akdal, Balkhash district, Almaty region; promotion of project results to further replicate results; conducting an information and educational campaign and promoting the achievements of the project.
According to the results of the project, it is expected that an innovative water-saving irrigation technology will be introduced on 500 hectares of rice fields; the saving of irrigation water from the Ile River will be up to 6,000 m³ / ha (20%) during the irrigation period; the flow of river water from the irrigation rate is reduced; the flow of wastewater flow is reduced; rice yield will increase; profitability (37%) and net profit ($ 310 / ha) will increase; a manual on the technology of reuse of drainage-waste water will be developed; 550 people, including direct participants - 105 people, 445 people - will be trained and will be involved through information; the project will involve 25 women, 15 from the local population; 6000 hectares of water-deprived lands were put into agricultural use.
