Development and implementation of a comprehensive management plan for the desert pastures of the Karazhotinsky rural district
In 2017 Kazakhstan adopted the Law ?On pastures? that delegates managerial functions to local executive bodies, and district akimats in rural districts. Local executive bodies have to come up with sustainable pasture management plans.
The main goal of the project is the introduction of an integrated system of sustainable management of pasture landscapes of the desert zone and the development of a typical pasture management plan for pasture users and rural akimats of Enbekshikazakhsky district of Almaty region.
As a result of the project?s activities, the following results will be achieved: a geobotanical survey of 60 thousand hectares of pastures of the village Karazhoty conducted; automated Electronic Pasture Management Information and Electronic System in place for keeping records of all rangelands, developing plans for their sustainable and rational use; a committee for pasture-users of the village and the rural district created; 60 thousand hectares of aul and distant pastures of the rural district are steadily managed through the system; areas of degraded pastures are determined with corresponding restoration measures; training is conducted for pasture users of the rural district; eliminated conflict between pasture-user groups; 190 farms (1,200 people, including 300 women) benefited directly from the project.
