Implementation and demonstration of energy-efficient technologies to improve livelihood of rural communities in Eastern Kazakhstan
The project proposed the territory of the village Kokpekty, East Kazakhstan region rich in forest resources, where logging for heating needs thrives. The existing central heating system has been in decline since the time of the collapse of the union, while private boilers use coal.
The aim of the project: to introduce and demonstrate in action energy-efficient technologies to reduce the consumption of electricity and natural resources, carbon dioxide emissions.
Project objectives: to reconstruct the greenhouse on the basis of the existing school building in the village of Kokpekty, equip the greenhouse with a drip irrigation system, solar split-system, LED lighting lamps; install solar split-system and LED lighting lamps in kindergarten; install LED lighting lamps in the Kokpekty school classes; organize the cultivation of vegetables and fruits in the greenhouse; organize three information and demonstration sites to widely spread the project results.
Comprehensive use of several energy-saving technologies will reduce electricity, water and heat consumption by at least 35-40%; reduce direct greenhouse gas emissions; create 10 jobs for socially needy rural citizens. Project aims to train 100 representatives of rural business on the basics of the integrated use of resource-saving technologies; improve diet for 800 rural children; involve 700 women in the project activities; disseminate positive results at three information and demonstration sites.
