Implementation of energy-efficient lighting solutions and energy management in schools of Satpayev city to demonstrate social and economic benefits of energy saving and reduction of CO2 emissions
The city of Satpayev is an industrial region; therefore, there is an urgent need for enhanced environmental safety. One of the pillars of the environmental safety of the region is the sustainable development of the urban economy, using modern energy-efficient systems and technologies in terms of the consumption of heat and electricity. The government bodies of Satpayev are not competent in the application of energy-efficient solutions. Energy-efficient projects in the public sector (schools, gardens, hospitals) are developing poorly, while the city is growing, new buildings are being commissioned, and energy consumption is increasing.
The purpose of the demonstration project in Satpayev schools is to introduce energy-efficient lighting and energy management, to save energy, money, reduce CO2 emissions, attract public attention and help government authorities to implement energy-efficient projects at other public facilities.
The project objectives are formulated as: creation of a project working group; lighting audit of the current situation in schools; acquisition and installation of lighting solutions; development, coordination and implementation of energy management systems; development, coordination of training programs; rolling out PR campaign; formulation of the project results; calculation of energy savings and CO2 emissions; introducing an internal energy audit; development of urban energy management plan.
It is expected that estimated energy savings will be more than 100 thousand kWh per year, cash savings of about 2 million tinge (KZT) per year, reduction of CO2 emissions by more than 80 tons per year; at least 300 people will receive training on energy management and monitoring, more than 3,000 children will be trained on energy management; more than 3,000 people will be involved in promoting energy efficiency.
