Restoration of degraded pastures in Karaungur by introducing local pasture resources management and the establishment of sowing hayfields
The goal of the project is a restoration of degraded Karaungur pastures of the Arys rural district and creation of sown fodder lands.
The objectives of the project are formulated as: pasture productivity assessment, development of a plan for sustainable seasonal pastures use; creation of sown grasslands on 100 hectares to increase the forage livestock reserve; increase of awareness among villagers.
As a result of the project activity, it is expected to restore grass on an area of about 2,200 hectares, create infrastructure for grazing in remote pastures, develop recommendations and schemes for seasonal rotational use of pastures, plant 800 trees to create shade for animals and prevent land erosion, with further carbon dioxide absorption up to 2.8 tons per hectare. More than 100 families will receive 20-25% increase in annual income from meat and hay production.
