Enhancement of Local Action for Environmental and Natural Resources Conservation
? Objectives:
a) To update increase diversity area in community forest sustainably by paying attention on local community participation in developing management plan and provide concrete area to promote the policy
b) To strengthen local community organization in managing community forest and create concrete area to increase biodiversity through cooperation with local allies, local government organization, and develop integrated data system
? Beneficial: 1,924 households
? Target area:
Baan Mae-ka-pu, Bo-kaew subdistrict, Sa-meng district, Chiangmai province. This targeted area is mostly high mountain area and cover with 85% forest.
? Proposed activities:
a. Activity to strengthen community?s ability
i. Meeting to create an understanding about the project and evaluate an area to develop in the community
ii. Provide training for example, leadership and facilitated method
iii. Develop mechanical in community and local level
b. Community cooperate in policy campaigning
i. Meeting for example, local government organization and stakeholder to exchange policy and agree on zoning area.
ii. Produce manual and tools in managing natural resources restoration and biodiversity
iii. Create platform to develop natural resources management between community and related organization
c. Encourage operation in restore biodiversity
i. Support in building marine protecting areas, restore and protect wildlife, and local plantation in community forest
ii. Support model farming parcel area in preserving biodiversity in community level (house patches and household area)
d. Knowledge management activity (gather information, result, lessons learned, and experiences from the project)
i. Study on diversity and plantation replacement, and carbon gas evaluation
ii. Study on diversity of wildlife, fish types, ecology, and many others.
iii. Creating data and develop community data management system
e. Participatory Evaluation
i. Create document elaborating projects and survey to targeted people for project activities satisfaction
ii. Provide complaint channel to Human Rights committee

Pga K'nyau Karen tribe is the main targeted group. The project also focuses on other group for instance, community network or local government organization.
