Expansion of territories and raising productivity of the remote pastures in Akshokinskiy area by restoring the dam on the Sakalbay River
The main challanges that farmers face on the project territory are increase climate aridity, degradation of pasture landscapes, lack of pasture turnovers; remote pastures are inaccessible due to lack of water and infrastructure; poor forage base for livestock is observed. Lack of cooperation mechanisms for individual entrepreneurs also negatively impact. All this leads to decrease in livelihood of LC members.
In terms of Karaganda area, irrigation is the key element for forage supply.
The project proposes restoration of the seasonal dam on the Sakalbai River. Restoration of the dam will ensure irrigation of 4,000 hectares of remote pastures and create water supply for lymans. Removal of livestock to the irrigated area at a distance of 30 km, will reduce pressure on pastures round the settlement.
