The project ?Protection of Band-e-Amir National Park by Improving Access to Clean Energy, Bamyan? implemented by Qalai Jafar and Jarob Kashan Village Community Development Council (CDC) with the technical support of Wildlife Conservation Society. It is one of the nine projects awarded to Band-e-Amir National Park (BANP) Community Development Councils.

Community people were using Kerosene oil for lightening their homes during the night. The emission produced by Kerosene Oil was causing health issues to community people especially children. Due to lack of lighting the children were unable to study during the night and they had no access to computer and TV.

Below are the projects results achieved:

1. One micro-hydro with capacity of KW 18 energy is functional in the area.
2. Around 260 household including 715 women have access to renewable energy used for lighting. Respiratory diseases have reduced in the women and children
3. Each household save around AFN 500 per month. If we calculated the total money saved by community (260) with the implementation of this project, it equal to AFN 1,560,000 or Approx. $19,746.
4. The project is well managed by the community. The revenue generated by the project is being invested in the sustainability of the project.
