At the beginning of the project, an awareness campaign will be launched to reach the 1800 Sened households with the aim of improving waste management. This campaign will focus in particular on the use of organic waste to improve the fertility of the land, to fight against desertification. The results will be widely disseminated: - Popularization of agro-ecological principles (with monitoring of yields) to encourage other farmers to follow the dynamics - To support Sened's 1800 households' awareness campaign, by providing evidence on the importance of waste management, the importance of adopting agro-ecological practices to preserve the wealth of their land. - To encourage future farmers (agricultural clubs in high schools) to take an interest in organic farming. Exchange visits between farmers can be organized. An important communication will be made on organic farming, on the occasion of the olive festival, presenting different agro-ecological practices.

The capacity building activities planned by the project are: - Training municipal employees on waste management - Training farmers on the use of compost, and moringa hedge Result 3 of this project is dedicated to knowledge management. The project therefore aims to popularize good practices. Capitalization and dissemination of these practices will be done through exchange visits and the installation of composters in agricultural clubs in high schools.

The political impact is envisaged at the local level. By collaborating with the projects, the municipality of Sened asserts that the environment (waste management, sanitation) is at the heart of local policies.

The project will have a direct impact on the lives of farmers who will use less chemical in their crops. Improved waste sorting in the municipality of Sened will also have a direct impact on the health of residents by being less exposed to animal waste. Finally, a significant impact that will be measured in the project is the income of organic farmers. Thanks to organic certification, these farmers will have access to new markets (including the export of Aromatic and Medicinal Plants).

The proposed activities were defined during a consultation meeting with AJA members. Following this meeting, the AJA met with the municipality to define its framework of collaboration. The Environment and Agriculture Health Committee of the municipality of Sened has signed an agreement with the AJA. The direct beneficiaries are the AJA members wishing to move towards organic farming (about 50 members). The AJA takes a participatory approach in implementing its actions and in making decisions. Other project stakeholders are the municipality of Sened, which will be in charge of waste collection, and AFDI, which will accompany the AJA in the experimentation of anaerobic digestion. All stakeholders will be involved in the monitoring and evaluation of the project. The indirect beneficiaries of the project are the 1800 households in Sened, whose waste will be sorted and removed regularly.

The sustainability of the project is due to the fact that: - The partnership with the municipality will ensure the continuity of composting (collection of organic waste, provision of land). - The biological dynamics carried by a large number of members of the AJA, makes compost essential. - The payment of compost and moringa plants provide the AJA with an income necessary for the operation of the services after the end of the project. The final objective of the project is to make organic farming economically viable with respect for the environment.
