Homemade Nature Friendly Cleaning Products
Clean Future Association (TEGEL) has established to carry out projects, on national and international scale, to change the ecological footprint of user behavior; to raise awareness of eco-friendly, ecological, fair and sustainable products, and to increase the accessibility of these products for users.
Kazda?lar? and the Gulf of Edremit have been facing significant problems such as increasing loss of biological diversity due to chemical pollution, in addition to the threats of industrialization such as gold mining and coal-fired thermal power plants. One of the important reasons of the pollution in Kazda?lar? and the Gulf of Edremit region defined by Do?a Association as one of the important nature areas in the Marmara Region is that the wastewater of factories, hotels and individuals is discharged to streams, rivers and the Gulf without adequate treatment. For this reason, Kazda?lar? Region has been selected as a pilot application area for the production of clean products, establishment of a social enterprise model that will provide access for the low-income people, contribute to the economic strengthening of women, and test these products by users.
The main objective of the project is; to contribute to reducing the chemical pollution occured in the region by providing the production eco-friendly cleaning products in the Gulf of Edremit and Kazda?lar? and and the dissemination the usage of these products. It is also consistent with the SGP priorities that eco-friendly cleaning products are produced fairly in cooperation with existing women's associations in the region, beta testing of the product, awareness raising of the consumption of environmentally friendly products, and development of a sustainable financial model by developing the sales markets of the regional products.
In terms of gender roles, cleanliness is seen as the responsibility of the woman at home, and the cleaning agents containing chemical and allergen are generally exposed to women the most. Increased use of clean products is also important for women's health. In this sense, local women living in the region will be included in the project to increase their economic sense, increase awareness about non-toxic cleaning products and create a behavior change starting from women in the region.
