In the frame of the project in cooperation with local authorities we conducted a survey among artisanal miners in Zaamar, Jargalant, Batsumber soums of Tuv aimag, Yeruu, Shariin gol, Zuunkharaa soums of Selenge aimag, and we defined types of trainings and business directions based on the survey result. Most of the artisanal miners keen to have training in bee breeding, tree breeding, producing construction materials (block, beton fence), producing goods by recycling plastics and also bone processing.
-During the reporting period 60 bee families were distributed to the artisanal miners at the request of local authorities and the artisanal miners. In the initial stage we provided 12 families with bees. Also we organized trainings on bee breeding for families who received bee families and interested local residents. Organizing the training in the field and enabling participants to practice made the training more efficient, stated the participants.
-6 families who engaged with artisanal mining were provided with 300 head of small cattle.
-Training on how to plant, grow, collect, dry and can vegetables, livestock breeding, beekeeping, forestry or vegetable production in these areas. Training participants also noted it was efficient that organized in the field and were possible to practice in the site.
- Training were organized on processing cattle bones, producing flour and fertilizers, on producing different types of products from a secondary raw materials such as plastic bottles and other wastes.
