Productivity and Sustainability Improvement of Agro Eco-System in the Knuckles Buffer Zone and Livelihood Development
There are about 170 families living in the Padupola and Udukubura Grama Seva divisions in the Ududumbara pradeshiya secretariat area. These villages are situated in the filter zone surrounding the Knuckles Conservation Zone. The main source of income of these people is agriculture related activities in sloppy lands in the Yala season as well. Basic income is limited to the maha season. Lack of productivity in agriculture is the root cause of many social, economic and environmental adverse effects. The income from agriculture does not show any profit, but only other inputs like labour value are being exercised.
