The plantation worker communities & the village communities will be made aware of sustainable environment conservation. The project expects to raise awareness of 250 community members including youth, women, children & farmer organizations.

The project expects to develop 500 acres of degraded tea lands into lands that provide eco system services. Through this activity it is expected to improve the socio economic conditions of 100 tea plantation worker families by 25%. A new eco-tour trail & a camping site will be developed by the project. The degraded tea lands will be reforested and turned into an eco-tourism zone. 15 young community members will be trained as guides for eco- tourism. This will provide sustainable livelihoods for the plantation worker communities & other local village communities around the area. A co-operative society will be formed with the participation of all beneficiary communities involved in the project to regulate & formalize these income generation activities & conservation activities.

The project will work with local communities closely, therefore use of local language will be a primary factor both for conservation activities and in videos and documentaries with subtitles where necessary.

The project works closely with a tea plantation worker community and a village community near the Midlands Tea Estate. Project activities are planned to be conducted with their involvement. Specially, the tree planting & maintenance work will be carried out with the involvement of youth. The project expects to develop camping sites & train 15 young eco-tourist guides. Youth will be informed about the value & importance of the sensitive eco systems and about the conservation activities. Furthermore, the youth will be able to start sustainable livelihoods with the development of eco-tourism.
