Project Results
1- 70 women from highly impoverished communities are given employment opportunity
2- 35 Zero-Carbon Food carts are fully functional and are operated daily for business hours.
3- Since the carts are run by solar power, it has protected the environment from excessive carbon emissions.
4- The project beneficiaries receive entrepreneurial trainings to expand their street food vending business to the next level.
5- When once no woman dared to become cart vendor because of social stigma attached to working women in Afghanistan, we have now received 610 applications from women eager to become cart vendors.
6 After approval from NEPA and SGP team we will educate 1.6 million people on climate change through specially designed food wrappers.
7-Based on social business model, the initiative will sustain itself in upcoming years which will increase the number of solar powered food carts and thus benefiting more women in need and inspiring more people to take Climate Action
8- Because of our initiative was featured by both local and international media, we have seen unprecedented number of women-owned businesses.
9- Our initiative has inspired Afghan youth to embed climate protection element while designing their projects.

Annex E (continued)
Describe the immediate benefits received by the participants and/or the recipient communities:
1-70 Women, who didn?t have anyone to support them economically, now earn 800 AFN a day which help them feed their children and gives them a monthly saving as well
2-By moving the carts on solar-power we have eliminated 805 KG of CO2 emission Daily.
Calculations are made from this source ( Natural Resource Canada nrcan.gc.ca) according to it Burning 1 L of gasoline produces approximately 2.3 kg of CO2. So, ? If one food cart were to consume10 liters of Gasoline by generating power from fossil fuel combustion ? it becomes 350 liters of Gasoline for 35 food carts. So, If we multiply 350 with 2.3 KG it becomes 805 KG of CO2 into atmosphere daily.
3-People get inspired towards using renewable energy to meet their energy demands
4- People get educated on climate change while reading about it on specially designed food wrappers
5- People have welcomed women?s inclusion into the socio-economic activities and which has broken the decades-long stereotypes attached to working women in Afghanistan
Describe long term benefits:
1- Since the initiative is based on social business which generates revenue. So the number of solar-powered food carts will be doubled in coming years
2- The solar powered food carts will keep protecting environment from excessive carbon emissions and will encourage people to the usage of renewable energy.
3- Will encourage more women to start doing businesses fearlessly and peacefully.
4- Will continue the mission of educating Afghans on climate change through specially designed eco-friendly food wrappers
5- Will serve free food among destitute communities to stop hunger and malnutritions
New Developments and unexpected difficulties/problems:
New Developments and unexpected difficulties during the implementation of the project:
1- When we launched operating in the streets of Kabul, our women cart vendors were heavily harassed and were made fun of. Such activities demotivated many of our cart vendors while some beneficiaries left the job. However, what we learned was that friction always happen at first and then slowly and gradually change happens. Now our cart vendors report the harassment events hardly.
2- Some women had to take a lot of time to get enough trained for handling the carts appropriately. However, once they get trained completely they never do any mistake while riding the cart on the main roads.
