Project Characteristics and Results

Gender Focus

The project states, that it will contribute to the improvement of the socio-economic situation of the local population by using alternative energy-efficient means. It should be noted that most of the kindergarten employees are women. As they are responsible for the food and cleaning, they have more contact with water. Therefore, providing kindergarten with hot water is directly linked to improving women's health condition. In addition, the smoke resulting from the heating of the fire stove damages the health of the children and the kindergarten personnel. Also, within the project implementation, it is important to take into account the needs of women living in the Pankisi Gorge who have a language barrier.

Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods

by application of renewable (solar energy) technologies in Jokolo kindergarten, the indoor environment has been improved; besides solar system reduced the heating and for electricity costs , the locals are not using the wood for heating which affected on nature resource proper management

Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment

face to face meetings , training, workshops , seminar were organised, beside brochures were printed and discriminated on local level and facebook was used as a tool for destination project results in social media

Notable Community Participation

the youth were involved in project design phase for identification of problem and planning the solutions

Capacity - Building Component

there were number of capacity building training and workshops planned and implemented by grantee for local community member in area of climate change , alternative energy sources and energy efficiency

Inovative Financial Mechanisms

three brochures were printed and discriminated , project end result presentation event was organised with involvement on various stakeholders

Project Results

project successfully demonstrated using alternative energy by ensuring heating, electricity and hot water at kindergarten in Akhmeta municipality, Jokolo village.
Specifically, solar-powered panels was equipped with a micro solar power station, which can supply the kindergarten with electricity. The panels of the solar micro power was installed on the roof of the kindergarten and an additional heating boiler was installed near the kindergarten building.
as a result of application of alternative energy technology heating costs has been reduced by 80% and electricity costs by 100%
indoor environment of kindergarten beneficiaries has been improved which includes 45 child and 10 teachers
awareness raising activities about climate changers, use of alternative energy sources and energy efficiency targeted 350 community members
