Gender Focus
The project aims at conservation and return of endemic species of Georgian wheat ancient local varieties (Landraces) to agricultural production, which will contribute to the preservation of Georgia's agrobiodiversity. The project states that male farmers have an enormous role in the project implementation, as they should buy seed materials, distribute and sell it for the income. Meanwhile, women are mainly product users in this field, who are referred to be housewives and those in charge of a family nutrition, which deepens the stereotypical attitudes toward women?s gender role. In the listing of target groups, the term ?mothers/parents" is also used, which exclude the involvement of fathers in the family caring and reproduces gender stereotypes.
It should be mentioned, that there is gender imbalance with regard to possession of agricultural land in Georgia. According to the Geostat, Males are documented possessors 2 times more often than females. Besides, women cannot enjoy the right to sell their assets or give it as inheritance since their authority is limited in the decision-making process in the family. Also, inheritance distribution practices have not changed, with the advantage given to men and women being less likely to be registered as owners of land or real estate. It should be noted, that 5 female joined the organization
