Project Characteristics and Results
Gender Focus
Bereti community is populated by Ethnic Greek, Armenian, Azerbaijanian and Georgian (ecomigrants from Svaneti and Adjara) population. Roles in Bareti community families are divided between men and women. Men are mostly involved in medium to large scale farming (cattle breading and potato growing), while women in household activities. It has to be highlighted that most of teachers in Bareti school are women. The project will actively involve both gender groups in its activities and develop community conservation strategy complying with gender balance objective. Ecotourism services elaborated in the scope of the project will apply interests of both gender groups.
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
In the scope of the project Bareti community ecotourism development resources will be accessed and new services developed to offer to Algeti National Park and Dashbash Canyon natural monuments visitors. This action will contribute to strengthened ownership of local community conservation actions and socio-economic development of the community.
