Species action plans prepared in Turkey covers 5 year periods. At the end of every 5 years, implementation and success of plans are evaluated with the participation of the stakeholders and II. 5 year implementation plans are prepared.
The National Crane Action Plan was prepared by the Nature Research Society in cooperation with the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks in 2012-2013 with the support of GEF / SGP and has been implemented for 5 years. The National Crane Action Plan is the first action plan that was prepared at the national level for a species in our country and successfully completed for the first 5-year period.

Since this will be the first species action plan which will be updated for its second 5-year period in Turkey, the methodology and experience gained through this study will be modeled in other plans.
Crane is listed as Annex II list of Bern Convention and Annex I list of European Union Bird Directive.
The National Crane Action Plan is prepared and implemented with the participation and contributions of the relevant public institutions as well as non-governmental organizations and the members of the National Crane Monitoring Network formed mostly by local people.
