Guneskoy Youth Project
Guneskoy Youth Project
Unemployment rates are rising year by year in Turkey, people are abandoning agriculture in rural areas, and it is becoming nearly impossible to find clean, healthy and affordable food in urban cities. These problems will be enhanced by climate change. The main objective of this project is uniting youth from both urban and rural to form a ?Work Group?, creating an environment friendly space for a life which is resilient to climate change with strong social bonds. The study group will be given a number of trainings and field practices such as Natural Farming, Community Supported Agriculture, Permaculture, Holistic Management of Pasture which will increase their resilience against climate change. In order to ensure that the project will be sustainable, the Work Group will be assisted to establish the relations on the topics that may create jobs, design projects, implement and form a cooperative like non-governmental organization. A replicable training program will be created by compiling the information from both theoretical and practical activities of the project. The project will support both the improvement of agricultural and animal husbandry activities in local rural areas. The improvements on the land will serve as a sustainable prototype against the climate change. The most important outcome of the project will be the creation and sustaining of a structure composed of young people who are self sufficient, nature friendly, resilient to climate change, able to produce food and earn sufficient income enough for their livelihood. Resilient youth will generate resilience against climate change.
