Kazdagi Biodiversity Knowledge Management Project
Kaz Da?lar? (Mount Ida) is one of Turkey?s most important key biodiversity area. The societies that have lived in this area through the centuries have continued their ancient methods of production in relation to nature without harming their habitats. Last decades biodiversity of the region is under threat by reason of neoliberal policies and their projects. Nevertheless, the ecological movements in the region is strong. However, it has a fraying effect on these struggles for years.

Kaz Da?lar? and the region is an important memory site. Recalled with epics and myths for centuries, the region needs to be remembered with its ecological richness, threats and struggles. Our memories is part of our identity that one of the basic facts we want to protect and struggle for. We should make both the local people and the national public visible on the biodiversity of this region and why it is important for the continuity of life, the projects that threaten the region and the groups fighting against these projects.

With this project it is aimed to briefly memorize by awareness of biological diversity, projects that threaten biodiversity and the ongoing ecological struggles against these projects, digitalization of this wealth, threats and struggles in the region for the conservation of biological diversity in the Kaz Da?lar? and Edremit Bay;
Within the scope of the project digitalization studies; an online library will be carried out, an interactive map will be set up, legislation on biodiversity, information on EIA processes will be made and regular content will be created, an awareness campaign will be organized to remind the region's biodiversity and its importance, and in this context various workshops, trainings will be prepared, interviews will be held with local people and stories will be gathered in order to realize the place of biodiversity and agricultural biological diversity in local culture and livelihoods.
