Improving ecological resilience, community health and food security on Kayangel Atoll, Palau
Improving ecological resilience, community health and food security on Kayangel Atoll, Palau
The proposed project aims to remove rats and reduce the impacts of Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle (CRB) on the main island of Kayangel to improve livelihoods and biodiversity and protect our culture. Rats and CRB have impaired our ability to harvest important natural food resources, grow several significant and culturally important crops, and undertake the commercial production of coconut oil. Indicators of the project?s success will include increased production and diversity of food crops including coconut and an increase in the abundance of the Endangered Palauan megapode.
