- A project implementation workshop was held immediately upon receipt of the 1st payment which brought together 50 stakeholders from the beneficiary communities of Burong and Mandina. The inception workshop was also attended by personnel from The Departments of Agricultural Services and Community Development who would be providing technical assistance during implementation. during the workshop, participants went through the project details including the goal, objectives, outputs and outcomes and their specific roles in the execution of the project.

- The awarding of the contracts for the fencing and rehabilitation of the 2 wells in Burong and Mandina gardens was also done following a local tender process. The 2 contracts were awarded to different contractors following an evaluation by the management of the project.

- 2, 350 Seedlings were purchased from a local supplier based in the West Coast Region as it was rather late to raise seedlings by the grantee give the advanced state of the season. The seedlings were planted along the perimeter fence of the both gardens to reinforce the fences when the trees mature.

- Both gardens were old abandoned ones due to breaches of the fences. Each garden has 6 wells all of them containing reasonable quantities of water. In each garden, one well was selected for rehabilitation and re-dug to a more reliable water column depth. Each of the rehabilitated well was fitted with a water pump and connected to an overhead water tank fitted with solar panels for water lifting.Each well was fitted with 2 solar panels of 24 and 30 watts capacity. During the installation of the solar system, 4 youth from the villages received training n care and maintenance as part of the project's sustainability strategy. Each of the water tank has a capacity of 5, 000 litres.

- A store and toilet was constructed in the 2 gardens to serve the women during working hours and for safe keeping of their garden tools. the toilets were aimed at providing sanitation in the gardens and minimize the spread of diseases.

- To facilitate water distribution in the 2 gardens, 4 stand pipes and 4 reservoirs were constructed in the 2 gardens.

- A Training of Trainers Training (TOT) was conducted for 40 women gardeners drawn from the 2 garden schemes of Burong and Mandina on horticultural practices in a bid to enhance their skills in vegetable production and thereby increase their productivity.

- A community water management committee was established in each of the 2 villages and given the responsibility of managing the affairs of each garden scheme. Each of the water management committee received training on how to run the scheme.

- To reduce dependency on chemical fertilizer usage by vegetable producers, compost chambers were established in each garden to produce compost for soil fertility improvement. The training showed how to make compos from garden waste and methods of application to the soil.

- 4 young fellows from the 2 villages received training on solar maintenance so that such vital services will be available to the gardens once SGP funding ends.
