The capacity building component, which is central to the project, is designed to sustain the project.

The project aims t empower youth to acquire skills that would afford them employment opportunities and will support the government's youth policy.

Project Results
- Community sensitization programme was conceductd at project inception stage in in 9 communities (Kubandar, Contek kunda Niji, Conteh kunda Sukoto, Galloya, Kerr Biram, Kerr Omar Sowe, Kerr Njor, Memmeh, Kabakoto) on the project concept and objectives. The objective of the sensitization sessions was to foster understanding on the project and its planned activities and outputs and reach consensus on the roles and responsibilities by the different stakeholders.
- A project inception workshop was conducted in the town of Farafeni which was attended by 40 farms who came from the 9 beneficiary communities.
- A training programme on Agroforestry practices conducted fr 2 days attended b 25 young men and 25 young women selected from the beneficiary communities. The sessions included topics on sivilculture and tree management practices.
- 50 farmers consisting of 25 young men and 25 young women adopted agroforestry on their farmlands totaling about 2, 000 hectares where improved conservation measures were applied on the landscapes (farmlands).
- A 3 day training session on bee keeping and value additions was conducted for 25 youth in the town of Farafeni to provide them with the necessary skills for employment. Through value additions, bee products can be transformed into a variety of useful products that can generate income.The training also included topics on small business development.
- Various fencing materials (Chain link wires, metal poles, nail, barbed wire) were procured and distributed to support 25 youth to establish 25 woodlots in 25 different communities.A total of 270 seedlings were distributed among the 25 woodlots to support reafforestation efforts at the community
level.
- A further 9 communities also received fencing materials and 60 seedlings each to establish individual woodlots.
- Climate resilient crop seeds were also distributed among 9 communities to diversify their income and food security base.
- Community sensitization sessions were conducted on the dangers associated with illegal migration to Europe for the youth of the region and the sessions were well attended.
- A 3 day intensive training programme was conducted for 50 youth from 20 - 22 November 2019 on Tie and Dye making, after which the participants were supported to undertake diversified income generating activities in their localities. All this was geared towards curbing illegal migration among the youth.
- 25 youth and 25 women received training on food processing techniques such as making local beverages from local produce, jam making from local produce, bean processing etc all geared towards diversifying income sources for the local population.
- A one day sensitization campaign o bush fire control measures was organised for the 9 communities in Farafeni on December 10, 2019.
- Another food processing training programme for 50 youth was conducted from 11 - 12 January 2020 with participants drawn from the villages of Kubandarr, Galloya, Conteh kunda Niji, Conteh kunda Sukoto, Kerr Omar Saine, Kerr Ngorr, Memmeh and Kabakoto.
- The final filed activity was the establishment of 7 natural resource enterprises which were: Nursery establishment to produce and sell tree seedlings, Processing of forest produce through value additions, establishment of 2 local bakeries for the production and sale of local breed to the communities and establishment of 2 apiaries in 2 villages (kerr Omar Saine and jajari.
