Sun and warmth in Bari Tnank
?Bari Mama? Charitable NGO is a network of voluntary women who work to prevent abandoning children with disabilities at birth, assisting disabled children at the orphanages and contribute to returning of children with disabilities to families. To ensure proper care and therapy for these children, the NGO has established ?Bari Tnak? shelter through different donations and fundraising. The complex includes 3 buildings to serve for therapy and accommodation for mothers, a workshop intended for vocational education for children with disabilities and a charity café to serve for social events.
The SGP grant project aims to reduce the energy costs in "Bari Tnak" buildings and support establishing a ?green? social enterprise through application of solar energy use and energy efficient technologies. In particular, the project will contribute to the reduction of the energy costs of the ?Bari Tnak? by approximately 20%, by installation of a PV station with a nominal capacity of 20 kW; energy-efficient doors and windows and gas boiler heating systems in the 2nd building of the Shelter. It will also equip the Shelter?s Solar Charity Café with solar cooking appliances to serve ?slow food? and other eco-cuisine.
Savings accumulated from the reduced energy costs will be used to address growing needs of the Shelter and expand its service capacities.
The project objective is, therefore, to reduce the energy bills, while increasing comfort and financial sustainability of the Shelter, through incorporation of the sustainable low carbon energy technological solutions into the buildings? design.
