Fostering Eco Friendly Thinking in Schools
The project aims at introducing a model eco-school programme to promote and action-oriented learning for achieving the SDGs in 2 regions of Armenia ? Ararat and Kotayk and the capital Yerevan. The envisaged activities include forming a school eco-committee, carrying out an environmental review, developing an action plan to be linked to the curriculum, further monitoring and evaluation as well as producing an eco-code. It is anticipated that the project will increase the awareness of teachers, parents and children on environmental concerns such as biodiversity conservation and natural resource degradation, climate change, green energy, food safety, global citizenship, health and wellbeing, waste, water, etc. The eco-committee formed by the schoolchildren jointly with teachers and parents will conduct the environmental review of the school and develop an action plan based on the identified gaps. The implementation of the action plan will be monitored and evaluated by the school community. Moreover, children will advocate for incorporating the environmental development plan into school annual development plan and involving as many children and parents in its activities as possible.
Apart from the above-mentioned, the project will raise awareness and knowledge of teachers, children and parents on importance of an eco-friendly environment.

Project Characteristics and Results
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Before the project start-up, the teaching module will be presented to the local authorities of the project communities to select the beneficiary schools. As each school action plan includes implementation of different community awareness raising campaigns on environment protection, the school children and youth will have a chance to initiate different activities in consultation with communities. Moreover, the project is planning to hold a closing event where all interested community-based organizations and other key stakeholders will participate to learn about the project achievements and lessons learnt.
Inovative Financial Mechanisms
During the project implementation quarterly reflection meetings will be organized with implementing partners to understand and capture lessons learnt, challenges and good practices. The tested training modules will be finalized based on the feedback from the training participants. Through the project implementation photos and short videos will be captured to be shared through the Foundation Facebook page. At the end of the project the closing event will take place where project good practices, successes as well as lessons learnt will be shared with partner state and non-state organizations. All aspects of the eco-school application in Armenia elaborated by the project will be included in the final module.
