Biomass Energy Application and Demonstration of Energy Saving and Emission Reduction in Mountain Community in Yunnan
The project site is located in Lijiang city, the core area of Three Parallel Rivers area. The main income of local people come from fruit tree and vegetable planting and tourism service. The average income of rural people is 8450CNY( $1225). All population in the village are Naxi ethnic minority people.
Main problems:
1. Community relies on external energy sources including electricity, coal, liquefied gas and charcoal
2. Biomass generated by community such as agricultural waste and forestry waste hasn't been fully utilized
Solutions/activities:
1. Conduct community baseline survey on energy utilization and biomass resources
2. Build community's capacity through supporting the establishment of community resources management team, developing community energy management handbook, communities exchange visit and training
3. Demonstrate firewood-saving stoves
4. Summarize project results and communicate it through community energy management documentary, social media and workshop
Anticipated results/outcomes:
1. Community energy utilization and biomass resources investigation report completed, 3000 people impacted
2. 260 people's capacity developed regarding energy efficiency and sustainable energy management, 3000 people impacted
3. 30 demonstration households utilized firewood-saving stoves, which reduced 8 tons of CO2 per year and saved 6900CNY ($1000) of energy cost
4. 65 people participated in project workshop and 5000 people impacted by project documentary
