Demonstration Project on Energy-saving Transformation of Air-conditioning System in Medical and Health Organizations
Demonstration Project on Energy-saving Transformation of Air-conditioning System in Medical and Health Organizations
According to a report by World Bank, medical and health organizations accounts for about 5% of total global carbon emission. Although there is no such kind of public report in China, it's estimated by some researchers that Chinese medical and health organizations accounts for about 3-5% of the national total carbon emission.

Main Problems:
1. Among all energy uses of hospital building, air conditioning system accounts for the biggest energy consumption ratio, which is over 50% of the total energy consumption. The total CO2 emission of cooling system of hospitals in China is about 85million tons per year.
2. Some air conditioning systems are still using GHG with high temperature rising efficiency as refrigerating fluid.

Solutions/activities:
1. select demonstration hospital and establish energy audit team
2. conduct air conditioning system energy audit for demonstration hospital
3. conduct energy conservation transformation demonstration project based on the results of energy audit
4. conduct survey on refrigerating fluid of air conditioning system and publicize the results
5. Organize project summarizing workshop and energy conservation results sharing meeting; develop hospital air conditioning system energy conservation guide book; outreach project results through social media, internet and medical and health organizations' network

Anticipated results/outcomes:
1. before and after energy audit reports showed that the air conditioning system transformation reduced 10-15% CO2 emission
2. Investigation Report on HFCs using in Medical and Health Organizations and Existing Alternative Technologies completed and disseminated, 100 people influenced
3. about 30-50 medical and health organizations influenced
4. 3-6 media reports published; 200 hospital air conditioning system energy conservation guide book disseminated; 4-6 social media articles published
