NAMISINDWA SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION PROJECT
NAMISINDWA SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION PROJECT
The major aim of the project is to use Agroforestry to enhance Soil and Water Conservation on Bubikala hill slopes and make the communities in Namisindwa District more climate-resilient.

NAWO SACCO will train the households and support implementation of the following strategies to reduce land degradation in the target area: soil and water conservation measures to reduce soil erosion and lower the rate of occurrence of landslides and mudslides; agroforestry activities to generate firewood, timber, food and revenue especially for the youth; bee-keeping and dairy animals to diversify the social economic opportunities for improved livelihood and natural resource management.

Groups of 10-15 neighbouring households will be trained together and encouraged to agree on the location or placement of various land conservation structures such as hedgerows along contour lines and the selection of suitable plant species for the hedgerows.
