An analysis of the capacity needs of the beneficiaries did not take place a priori. However, it is important to note that the beneficiaries are used to collaborating on other projects. A very important fact, given that the project has a very innovative character and the beneficiaries are very receptive to training, therefore, the installation of biodigesters contribute to the reinforcement of their technical capacities. More specifically, the beneficiaries are trained on the techniques of construction of biodigesters; the collection, sorting and management of waste and the maintenance, upkeep and prevention of simple breakdowns of the biodigester.
The project does not intend to make political lobbiyng or favor local political leaders in their political struggles. However, the project intends to align with the following SDG 2030 goals:
a) Considering that gender equality is objective 5 of the 17 SDGs stipulating "Achieve gender equality by empowering women and girls".
b) Considering that the theme of reducing inequalities is objective 10 of the 17 SDGs stipulating: "Reduce inequalities in countries and from one country to another".
c) Considering that the thematic relating to the fight against climate change is objective 13 of the 17 SDGs stipulating "Take urgent measures to fight against climate change and its repercussions".
d) Considering that Goal 16 of the SDGs requires justice and peace everywhere and for all.
e) Considering Goal 17 of the SDGs concerning the development of partnerships for the achievement of the goals.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
The project in question is very innovative and will contribute to reducing the cutting of poverty trees and the quality of life of the population. In order to have a significant impact, especially outside the area, the project will do the following:
a) A document capitalizing on experiences will be produced to share with other actors and partners in the community;
b) A video on the achievements will be shared with the partners;
c) Meetings in the field with local actors;
d) Meetings with other partners, cluster meetings;
e) The meetings of the agricultural sectoral table which brings together the various actors intervening in the environment and energy sector;
f) The report of projects intended for funding partners and other stakeholders;
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
The project is developping local resources (labor, waste and other local resources) in the various operations to be carried out. This technique will not only inject money into the area, achieve expected results with the mobilization of little financial resources, but also the reproducibility of skills and the various activities carried out by local players. In addition the establishment of biodigesters and the introduction of biofertilizer and training sessions carried out under different themes will lead to guaranteeing access to energy for households and increasing the fertility of plots; all this will lead to an increase in the productivity of the gardens, availability of food without compromising future productive capacity
Inovative Financial Mechanisms
The project will systematize the data through the production of a capitalization and video document which will be shared with partners and beneficiaries. To ensure the sharing of knowledge, the beneficiaries (young and old) will be trained on the techniques of biodigester construction.
Ultimately, people will have new insights into how they can access renewable, sustainable and affordable energy
Gender Focus
The women in the area are exclusively involved in cooking in their homes. They spend a lot of time looking for fuelwood for cooking. Faced with such a situation, domestic work becomes increasingly heavy for them and limits their participation in social activities in their communities etc. And, when their duties as women increase, girls are taken out of school to help with agricultural and domestic work much more often than boys. In short, there are discriminatory attitudes and behaviors towards women leading to a lack of development of the sense of leadership among women which is little noticed. In addition, their strategic needs and interests are not taken into account and measures are not adopted locally to act positively on the relationships between women and men in households.
? The interventions of stakeholders (NGOs, state projects, OCB, etc.) in the town of Cavaillon, in terms of promoting gender equity, are limited to respecting the quota (generally 30%) for the presence of women certain activities (Cash for Work, seed distribution, etc.).
? Young boys and girls have little awareness of the environment, energy, waste management.
Aware of the challenges that this represents, the project will work with both men and women, but with particular emphasis on building the capacities of women. Because, strengthening the personal capacities of women is considered essential to enable them to benefit from training opportunities that can increase their autonomy, their self-confidence, their social power, enabling them to make their own choices in life, participate validly in decisions that go in the direction of their interests. As a result, they will participate in training and environmental awareness sessions, will have access to biodigesters and to the resources necessary for socio-economic development.
Notable Community Participation
Young girls and boys from the beneficiary families of the project participate in certain activities both in their schools and their families. More specifically, the young people participate in work to install community and domestic biodigesters and related training sessions. As a result, they have a chance to take ownership of the technology.
The young people also join the management and monitoring committees for biodigesters. They will also be called upon to collaborate in carrying out the exchange visits and in the production of a video of testimony of success on the activities of the project.
