Promoting ecotourism for ethnic minorities living in the buffer zones of Pu Mat National Park contributing to forest protection and biodiversity conservation of Nghe An Western Bio Reserve.
The project is aimed at conserving the biodiversity of Nghe An Western Bio Reserve by promoting eco-tourism along with sustainable forest protection and development for ethnic minorities living in the buffer zones of Pu Mat National Park. 3 key groups of activity will be implemented:
- Enhancing knowledge and capacity of ethnic minorities in sustainable forest protection and development associated with eco-tourism promotion.
- Developing successfully, for dissemination and replication, 3 models of sustainable forest protection and development associated with eco-tourism promotion in Sang Le forest - Quang Thinh hamlet, Khe C?, Quang Phuc, Tam Dinh hamlet and Xieng hamlet, Mon Son village in order to support job convertsion from forest products exploitation (timber and non-timber), changes from illegal forest land use to development of eco-tourism, community-based tourism, craft villages for job creation, income generation and consequently reduced pressure on forest resources and biodiversity.
- Local knowledge and experiences from ethnic minorities? eco-tourism development associated with forest protection, biodiversity conservation will be shared with other communities and relevant entities to inform policy recommendations to local authorities of Tuong Duong, Con Cuong districts
