BLUE ECONOMY ADVOCACY TEAM (BEAT) SKN
We continue to experience and express grave concern over the insistent misuse, destructive activities and under-utilization of ocean resources. Our people, particularly our youth, are not particular about the care and concern displayed towards the ocean resources. This is demonstrated both through their actions and inactions. Those behaviours and attitudes being allowed to continue on the path of such increased prevalence will have serious adverse effects on our ocean?s resources and by extension on our economy. There are opportunities to expose our students/youth to the ideologies of the blue economy with a view to embark on a wider campaign throughout the communities of St. Kitts and Nevis. In embracing this opportunity, it creates avenues for the young people to lead the charge in special outreach and project activities that will result in the use of the ocean resources being maximized. This will aid in the attainment of measurable outputs including economic growth, improved waste management, sustainable tourism innovations, improved livelihoods, jobs creations and an ecosystem that is healthy.
