Developing a natural resource management plan for Ogayo
This project is intended primarily to undertake collective engagment of all resource owners within the area of OGAYO (Koreaf Village Community) customary land in view of a new Agro Forestry Development bein gplanned and the community has protested against the environmental threat it poses.
b) The decision of the Government (Forest Management Authority & Provincial Forest Management Committee) to call public hearings for the logging was also done without consultations with the customary owners as required by the constitution.
c) A mining company has reportedly completed a survey for a mine on customary land adjacent and near proposed biodiversity conservation management area.
Work will progress with establishment of a Biodiversity Conservation Management Area to be defined on customary land with legal status to protect it from forest clearing. ? ?
