Promoting Sustainable Trails to Enhance Community Livelihood Sustainability.
Promoting Sustainable Trails to Enhance Community Livelihood Sustainability.
Walking in Africa is the most common means to get about. The lack of an elaborate road and trail network leaves a huge percentage of the rural population with no choice but to trek as their only means of transport. This has given rise to phenomenal foot path network that are in use every day all over the Continent. Dating far back as anyone would remember, they are an integral part of life in the countryside. Some are famous from past events ranging from slave and Ivory trade routes, explorer Missionary treks to even present day athletic training tracks, and the rise of active life culture for health.
The prospect of active tourism and emerging diversification trend is clearly outlined in the region for the proposed geo trail. The development of the Great Rift valley geo park initiative by the KVDA and UNESCO Kenya brings the trail within the geographical location of the Geo park . this is another boost of trail and will thereafter be ranked the first geo-trail in Africa. Adventure seekers, hikers and film makers who spend their time within the geopark will always be subject to use of trails within the geopark .Accommodation to these visitors always for most time prefer camping and other traditional home stays. These has promoted rich cultural biodiversity of the community to be showcased ,portrage and traditional foods
