Vers un écosystème maîtrisé
The French association Les Abeilles de Dougoum works alongside the Djiboutian association Les Habibants de Dougoum to manage hunger and premature deaths risks in the Tadjourian village. The arid climate of the region makes it difficult for the locals to remain entirely on their herd for their survival, as both vegetation and rainfalls are rare. The goal of this project is to ensure food security by the promotion of agriculture, the preservation of the environment and to foster the social development by the upgrading of the living conditions of the shepherds.
The project plans:
- the building of micro dams to allow for water reserves;
- the development of gardens for forage production;
- the creation of tree parks in closed spaces to protect animals and/or plants from the heat;
- the creation of apiaries and barns.
